These are the ranges most Ottawa homes land in, before anything is measured. They are here so you can tell early whether we are in the right neighbourhood financially. The exact number comes from the written quote, and it is fixed once you sign.

What affects your price
Four things move the number.
Size of the opening
The single biggest factor. A basement hopper and a living room bay are not remotely the same job, and glass area drives most of the cost.
Glass package
Dual glazed is the standard and is already Energy Star certified. Triple pane costs more per opening, which is why we price it per window instead of per house.
Style and material
Casements cost more than sliders because of the hardware. Fibreglass doors cost more than steel. Architectural shapes are custom by definition.
Install complexity
Full frame costs more than an insert. Second storey, brick exteriors, and anything needing capping or new trim all add labour.
Rebates and incentives
Energy Star glass as standard.
The stock Guardian Low-E 80/71 glass package is Energy Star certified across the whole range, so there is no upgrade to buy to reach the efficiency levels rebate programs look for.
We supply the documentation and invoices the programs ask for. Which rebates are actually running changes year to year, so ask at the estimate and we will tell you what is live.
Financing
Payment terms.
Thirty percent on order covers manufacturing. The balance is due after the walkthrough, once you have seen the finished work. Nothing is owed at the estimate.

Why will you not give me a firm price over the phone?
We will happily tell you the ranges above, and they are on this page so you do not have to ask. What we will not do is turn a range into a firm number without measuring, because that is a guess, and a guess that comes in too low is how people end up with change orders halfway through the job. We measure first, then price, then the number stops moving. That order matters.
Can the price change after I sign?
Only if you change what you ordered, or if we open a wall and find rot or framing damage that was not visible at the measure. In that case we stop, show you the problem, and price the repair before doing anything. You decide whether it goes ahead.
Are you the cheapest?
Probably not. There is almost always someone quoting less, usually by using a thinner product, skipping the trim work, or leaving the disposal to you. Compare the quotes line by line and it usually becomes clear what has been left out.
Do I have to do the whole house at once?
No, and pricing each opening separately is exactly what makes that possible. Plenty of homeowners do the worst four or five now and the rest in a couple of years. We will tell you which ones are actually urgent.
